U12 Friendly - Goalkeeper Shows Team How its Done!
When your goalie scores 3 goals....!
Worton & Cheverell U12 Badgers welcomed Melksham Town Harriers to Elisha Field for a friendly match to fill a void in the fixtures list.
Unfortunately due to injury and illness, Melksham were depleted to 7 players before kick-off, so Worton loaned 2 players to make the game 9 a side as standard.
Before the match, both teams and their spectators impeccably observed a 2 minute silence.
First half Ben Webb and Reece Chalke played for Melksham and it was Reece who sneaked past Worton Defence and shot into the corner of the goal. Badgers responded well and created several changes before Charlie Amor netted to equalise.
For the second half, we loaned Alfie Timbrell and Jake Weston and the game continued to be tight, but a master stroke by the manager (honest!) brought goalkeeper Harry Fowler out to the pitch with a sort of floating position - he was supposed to be centre back - and within 15 minutes he had scored 3 goals, including one from a corner and one from 25 yards.
The final goal was scored by Connor Rawlinson who ran through a tiring defence and shot low into the corner.
A good run out for all the boys, including those who have not managed much game time recently. Many thanks to Melksham for coming across and we believe it was of good value to both sides.
