WCFC U15s The Badgers secured a second victory over local rivals Devizes Town Avengers within a week at Green Lane yesterday following a storming second half goal blitz. The advancement of the fixture to Saturday, at the Avengers request, didn't faze the Badgers. The first half was tight, with the Avengers having the upper hand in the first 30 minutes. The deadlock was broken early in the second half when Man of the Match Ashton continued his hot scoring streak, netting for the 4th game in a row. The Avengers hit back to equalise soon after and had the chance to go in front from the penalty spot but blazed it over. The miss was to cost them dear as 2 minutes later, the Badgers took the lead through Jack S after a great through ball from Nathan. Jack has now scored in every one of the 5 games this season, 8 in total, averaging almost a goal every half. 2-1 became 3 -1- when Ashton scored at the back post from a Bailey corner. It was left to Lewis to wrap up a wonderful day for the Badgers with a good finish late on to secure the points, his first of the season and the 6th different player to score this season. Two wins in a week over a competitive and talented Avengers team cements a strong start to the season from the Badgers. They are averaging almost 4 goals a game, with every player contributing to an excellent team effort. Next up is the toughest test so far, away to table topping Bradford Town Aztecs, who prior to today's game have a 100% win record this season.
